Always a favorite. If you take the trail behind Bud Ogles’s cabin, it’s short but rocky. Took my late 70 year old parents, too many rhododendrons and rocks, but they did it!
It was a great place to get a hike in. But just know if you do plan to go to rainbow falls it will take some time and I would plan most of the day for it.
Very interesting motor trail, have some parking places but not enough sometimes. Wildlife is there, just be patient and you can see them. We saw a bear and cubs on the way up
A gorgeous drive, with multiple stopping points along the way.
WOW!!! THIS IS AMAZING. Not for the weak of heart if you don't like heights as you travel up the 1- lane road to the top of the mountain. Plan for at least a few hours if you are staying on the motor trail If going to the falls, add additional time. There are some buildings to see right off the road and worth the effort. PARKING IS AN ISSUE AS YOU GO ALONG. Be kind and park appropriately so ALL can be safe, even if you have to walk a little.
